Education Disciplinary Double Standards

So you have a disputed incident where a student may or may-not have inappropriately embraced his teacher, and the punishment is a one-year suspension.

Then you have an undisputed incident of assault on a 6-year old boy by a teacher. Undisputed as in caught on video. The “punishment”?

An educator for Riverdale Schools in Hancock County, Ohio, was suspended for just 10 days after surveillance footage showed her grabbing a kindergartner, pinning him against the wall and clutching his face, according to local media.

The 6-year-old boy’s parents, Anthony and Autumn Nelson, are furious that teacher Barb Williams got what is essentially a head start on summer vacation — since there are only 10 days left in the school year.

“I would consider what would happen to myself, if I were to do that to her. If I were to do that to her, I would go to jail,” Anthony Nelson told local station WLBT.
