Why “Criminals” Should Have Rights, Part 7

Another story on what happens when police are allowed to treat us as criminals without rights: a minor is held in jail for 9 days for a crime he’s not even a suspect in after a rogue cop lies to him in order to solicit a false confession, then uses the falsely imprisoned teen as leverage to procure sexual favors from the teen’s mother.

Thankfully, Officer Julian Steele was held accountable for his criminal behavior and sent to jail. The Ohio State Supreme Court upheld the conviction.

This is why we have a 4th Amendment.
