Civil Liberties Under Attack

A depressing round-up of the federal government’s continuous disregard of basic civil liberties:

-An attempt to compel Internet service providers to assist the government with spying, even if the FBI does not have a warrant. In cases where a warrant is present, it is not currently required for “the custodian of those specific items [listed in the warrant] to find them for the government. This proposed legislation would change all that.”

Torture sites paid for with US tax dollars.

Per the ACLU, the Department of Justice is likely flouting a 2010 federal appeals court ruling that prohibits warrantless surveillance of e-mails, Facebook messages, and other means of electronic communication.
