Ruby Ridge at 20

It is the 20th anniversary of the infamous Ruby Ridge siege that resulted in the shooting deaths of a 14-year old, a mother cradling her infant, and a US Marshall.

I highly recommend the late Alan Bock’s article on this siege (not to mention his excellent book). Many people can’t get past the odious views on race the Weavers held. The real story, though, is the dangerous military-style mindset and execution of law enforcement tasks that led to innocents losing their lives. A trend, unfortunately, that showed itself months later in Waco, TX, with even more tragic results. A trend, unfortunately, that continues on a daily basis with the War on Drugs, civil liberties and innocence be damned.
