Standing Down The DEA

Courtesy of the “Flex Your Rights” fanpage on Facebook, a story about a New Mexico couple denying the Drug Enforcement Administration access to their home as the DEA officers did not have a warrant.

Good for the Parkers for maintaining their cool as gun-toting DEA officers were at their door demanding entry into their home.  The officers didn’t come to the door looking to clear the Parkers’ good name, which is why you don’t allow police into your home without a warrant.  Even if you have “nothing to hide,” you’re opening yourself up to legalized vandalism and making yourself vulnerable to arrest as officers look to trap you into making contradictory statements.  With machine guns drawn upon you, it seems almost inevitable that one wouldn’t exactly be thinking clearly and be prone to make an innocent verbal mistake (hence a rationale behind these tactics).
