Warrantless Searches of Cellphones

From the police watchdog website CopBlock comes a pretty chilling story: Michigan State Police are allegedly downloading data from the cellphones of motorists pulled over for traffic infractions.

No warrants.  No probable cause.  No innocence until proven guilty.

To the “I don’t have anything to hide” crowd, if police are searching your property without a warrant, it’s not because they think you’re innocent.  Do you really want someone ACTIVELY TRYING TO IMPLICATE YOU OF A CRIME to have the power to arbitrarily search through your possessions??

The erosion of the 4th Amendment continues.
